ATL 12.1 – 12.2 : A recap of the CCWHA action last weekend.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN/LOYOLA – The Ramblers traveled North to take on the Wildcats for a two game CCWHA series. Each game was decided by just a single goal, with a split weekend where both Loyola and Northern picked up wins. Loyola would snag the first win on Saturday, 2-1, with Hannah Bergom netting goal one for the Ramblers. Reagan Lynn would tack on another before the end of the second period for a 2-0 lead. Shae Blewett tallied the only Northern goal, but with it being put in at 19:43 into the third period, there wasn’t enough time to find a second Wildcat goal. The Ramblers who were credited with helpers in the 2-1 win were Sophia Riedel, Sophia Blanchard, and Ryley Coleman. Assists for Northern came from Anna Cockey and Sydney Higgins. In net for Northern was Brianna Bangle, while Julia Smith earned the win for Loyola.

Game two needed four periods instead of three, and began with Regina Moloney of Northern Michigan putting in the first goal of the game. Isabella Oldani would tally her first of the weekend to give the Wildcats a two goal lead with helper from Victoria Wozniak midway through the first. For a third unanswered goal, Shae Blewett would find herself a goal two minutes after the Wozniak goal, with help from Cockey. Loyola’s Maddy Shea would spark some fire before the first period’s end to make it 3-1, Northern. Olivia Fossier would continue the Rambler scoring during period two with a helper from Michelle Cottrell to cut the lead to a single goal. Blanchard would tie the game for Loyola’s own third unanswered goal with seconds remaining in the game. During the over time period, Wozniak would find the answer just 51 seconds into play after a pass from Blewett. The win was earned by Bangle in net for Northern while Smith was also in net again for Loyola.

The third star of the weekend goes to LUC’s Blanchard (1g, 1a), second star belongs to NMU’s Wozniak (1 GWG, 1a), and first star is awarded to NMU’s Blewett (2g, 1a).
