Loyola @ Northern
It was a hard-fought battle between these two teams with Loyola walking away with the win. The whole game was back and forth without any scoring until almost half-way in to the 2nd period when Loyola University’s Bergom scored a goal with a little help from teammate Riedel. Loyola then scored again making it a 2-goal lead when Lynn netted one from Blanchard andColeman. The score remained 2-0 until a last-minute effort with a goal fromNorthern’s Biewett (Cockey/Higgins) with mere seconds left in the game. Fortunately for Loyola, Northern couldn’t pull off the comeback, therefore making the final score Loyola 2, Northern Michigan 1.
MSU @ Adrian
The Adrian Bulldogs showed up for puck drop on Sunday with a winning mentality and that they did. A convincing Adrian win came when they out-shot MSU 47 to 13 in addition to scoring 12 goals. Goals from the Bulldogs came from Heisner (3), Hayward, Huxter, Chase (4), Pavlovich, Granger and Rotondo. The lone goal from MSU came from Garrett with a helper from Bailey. The final score of the game was Adrian 12, MSU 1.
Loyola @ Northern
Loyola and Northern faced each other for the second day in a row with another tight race, this time with Northern Michigan University coming out victorious. The first 3 goals all came in the 1st period from Northern (Moloney, Oldani and Blewett). Loyola rounded out the period with a single goal from Shea making the score 3-1. The 2nd period proved to be all Loyola’s when they scored the only 2 goals of the period, one from Fossier and the other Blanchard. The 3rd period started and ended in a 3-3 tie forcing the game into extra time. Northern Michigan’s Wozniak ended the contest quickly when she scored less than 1 minute in with help from teammate Biewett. The final score was Northern 4, Loyola 3.
