COLUMBUS, OH – The Division-2 CCWHA member, Aquinas College, travels to Division-1 Ohio State University for the first time in both program’s history for a weekend series, Friday Sept. 23 and Saturday Sept. 24.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
Aquinas finished off the 2015-16 season at 12-12-2 in overall play. The Saints found the back of the net 122 times while allowing 106 goals from their opponents.
Marlowe Pentecost led the way for AQ, as she put up 47 total points (23g, 24a). Pentecost managed to put in two man-advantage goals and tied for first in game-winning-goals with four. Isabelle Piotrowski led Aquinas in goals with 28, while having 40 total points (28g, 12a). Piotrowski also had two power play goals and tied Pentecost for leading game-winning-goals (4). Brooke Forgar grabbed 35 total points (19g, 16a) in Aquinas’ first season of play, while tallying a single short-handed goal and two game-winning-goals.
Holly Ensley was the lone goalie for Aquinas, picking up a 12-12-2 record as well for the year. Ensley averaged 4.04 goals against per game while helping the Saints finish third in the CCWHA DII.
SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES
Ohio State earned a 1-18-1 record for 2015-16, finishing eighth in CCWHA play. The Buckeyes let in 97 goals while putting in 26 goals of their own.
Melinda Vercollone led the way for Ohio State with 13 points (7g, 6a) and one power play goal. Jessica McCoy tallied 10 points (7g, 3a), while Courtney Trudeau had nine points (6g, 3a) to make up the top three point leaders.
Emily Ciborek was in net for every game during 2015-16, averaging 4.74 goals against per game.
