NOTRE DAME/LOYOLA-CHICAGO- Notre Dame University traveled to the Windy City to take on Loyola University-Chicago, with ND picking up two wins 7-0 and 10-0. Kimberly Riley was in net for Loyola, grabbing 25 saves on 32 shots in the first game and 20 saves on 30 shots in the second game. Allison Stankowicz grabbed the first win in net for the Irish, grabbing 15 saves on 15 shots on net for the shutout. Lauren Garatoni (1g, 2a), Jacqueline Dunn (1g) and Kiera Dwyer (5g, 1a) tallied the goal for ND. Madison Ratcyz, Marissa Kivi and Alex Stern added the assists.
In the 10-0 second win, Regina Engel was in net for her own shutout grabbing nine saves on nine shots. Kivi (4g), Dunn (2g, 1a), Ratcyz (1g, 1a) and Dwyer (3g, 1a) made up the Irish goals. Garatoni (2a), Caroline Riester (1a) and Ana Grandinetti (1a) had the helpers this time.
Third star goes to ND’s Kivi (4g, 2a), second star belongs to LUC’s Riley (45/62), and first star is named to ND’s Dwyer (8g, 2a).
AQUINAS/CENTRAL MICHIGAN – Aquinas College and Central Michigan University met up for a league series, with Aquinas walking out with two wins, 10-3 and 8-3. Holly Ensley made 20 saves on 23 shots on net in the 10-3 win. Isabelle Piotrowski (4g), Kristin Lothschultz (1g), Maria Maguire (1g), Marlowe Pentecost (3g, 3a) and Maria Manko (1g, 2a) tallied the Saints’ goals. Kelly Labarge (1a), and Katelyn Graczyk (2a) also grabbed points in the assist category. Alex La Rue was in net for Central grabbed 48 saves on 58 shots on net, while Paige Feehery (1g), Olivia Soumis (1g) and Sam Jenkins (1g) put in the Chippewa goals. Cecilia Anscomb tallied an assist.
In the 8-3 win, Ensley got the nod in net again, making 21 saves on 24 shots on net for Aquinas. Piotrowski led the way with four points (3g, 1a) while Brooke Forgar (2g), Pentecost (2g) and Manko (1g, 1a) also grabbed the Aquinas goals. Labarge (2a) and Kelli Adrian (1) registered the helpers for AQ. Jenkins grabbed three goals for Central while Mary Frank (1a) and Feehery (1a) had the assists. La Rue was in net again for the Chippewas grabbing 62 saves on 70 shots on net.
Third star belongs to AQ’s Manko (2g, 3a), second star goes to CMU’s Jenkins (4g), and first star goes to AQ’s Pentecost (5g, 3a).
MICHIGAN STATE/LAKE SUPERIOR STATE – The Spartans welcomed the Lakers to town, and gained two wins while hosting, 12-0 and 10-1. Izzy Morton grabbed both wins in net, with one being a shutout. In the 12-0 win, Elise Penhollow led the way with six points (4g, 2a), while Shelby Gregoire (1g, 1a), Sam Stefani (2g), Mary Al-Sheikh (1g), Katie Iandoli (1g), Sherine Diffendal (2g) and Emily Kawka (1g) compiled the bunch of goals. Jen Hadley (3a), Jen Meyer (2a), Karina Lucchese (1a) and Tayler Losee (1a) had the helpers in the win. Vanessa Foerch was in net for the Lakers in both games.
In the 10-1 win, Moe Daigneault tallied the lone goal for Lake Superior State, with Sydney Smith registered the assist. Penhollow led the way for the second time with four points (3g, 1a). Hadley also tallied four points (4a) while Emily Lynch (1a), Kawka (2a), Nicole Lafferty (3a) and Al-Sheikh (1a) grabbed the other assists. Gregoire (2g, 4a), Stefani (2g), Iandoli (1g, 1a), Meyer (1g) and Diffendal (1g) put in the Spartan goals.
Third star of the weekend is given to LSSU’s Daigneault (1g), second star goes to MSU’s Gregoire (3g, 5a), and first star belongs to MSU’s Penhollow (7g, 3a).
